Jammu, Jan 23 (KNO): In a solemn ceremony at the technical airport here, senior military and police officials paid homage to 10 Army soldiers who lost their lives in a road accident in Doda district on Thursday.
The wreath-laying ceremony, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was led by Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps and it was attended by Air Commodore A. Shridhar, Air Officer Commanding of the Jammu Air Force Station and Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Jammu zone. They were joined by fellow officers from the Army, Indian Air Force, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, and civil administration, underscoring the collective grief and respect for the slain soldiers.
The ten soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the tragic road accident in Doda were: Sowar Monu from Uttar Pradesh, Sowar Jobanjeet Singh from Punjab, Sowar Mohit from Haryana, Daffadar Shailendra Singh Bhadoriya from Madhya Pradesh, Sepoy Samiran Sing from West Bengal, Sepoy Pradumna Lohar from West Bengal, Sowar Sudhir Narwal from Haryana, Naik Hare Ram Kunwar from Bihar, Sepoy Ajay Lakra from Jharkhand, and Sowar Rinkhil Baliyan from Uttar Pradesh.
The mortal remains of fallen soldiers were transported to their hometowns for final rites.
Pertinently, an armed vehicle carrying soldiers for an anti-terror operation plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge amid challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions on Thursday. Ten soldiers were killed, and 11 others sustained injuries in the accident—(KNO)
